Marissa Birdi of Marissa Birdi Styling Group, had been wanting to do a photoshoot in front of a columned building for awhile. She sent me images from Instagram with subjects on the steps of ornate buildings with columns. But they were all in New York City and Paris. We figured that Dallas just didn’t have any.

Then one day in January, I was stopped at stop light while driving down to my daughter’s wedding at Hickory Street Annex and lo and behold I looked over and there was an ornate building with columns! I quickly jotted down the street coordinates and made a mental note to tell Marissa about the location.

Marissa contacted me about a month later to schedule a shoot and I told her about my discovery. I looked up the cross streets online and discovered that the building at that location was the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Marissa liked the images on the Scottish Rite website so we decided to have our session there and the rest is history. Direct sunlight isn’t normally my thing but it’s growing on me.
